2000-07-06 it is damn hot and i am damn damn tired. one wouldn't think that an hour time-change from one zone to the next would make that much of a difference, but it has. for some ill-reasoned reason, i have been forcing myself to stay awake since i almost allowed myself to fall asleep around 8 pm. instead, here it is: 11:10 pm central time. there was a spurt of productivity about an hour and a half ago where i cleaned, organized, dissected, and disposed of various art and crafty supplies which were inhabiting too much of my study closet space. dana and i returned from DC today, a bit bleary, but comforted by the fact that we managed to sign a lease on our 2nd choice apartment, make headway on the job search, and meet some very friendly and liberal non-Iowans. the relief came to us quietly as we ate McDonald's breakfast biscuits on the plane (to our neighbors' collective dismay) and had a chance to breathe in the stale a/c and ponder the looming move. that was quite some alliteration just then. my arms are chewed up with mosquito wounds. yes, they have transcended the mere category of "bite" and may continue to grow and grow if my past history of these "bites" is any indication. ack ack ack. the itching only adds to my exhaustion. just go to bed! i hear my loved ones cry from the farthest corners of the nation. did that sound patriotic? have i spent one fourth of july too many (= 1 total) in our dear district of columbia? noooooo. you just can't take the east out of the girl. |
