2001-03-14 tell me, what is your body fighting when it is fighting exhaustion? as in a fever, as in the flashes and shakes and sweats, the queasiness that tends to roll over you, back and forth. these are feelings (a series of feelings) i relegate to my early undergraduate years, working the closing shift at a silly hipster coffeeshop in pittsburgh. but now the same symptoms describe a condition resulting from leisure rather than work. ex., i've got permanent marker all over my hands and my knuckles read "cake walk." if i were less shudder-y and more focused, i could find a significance for that. i could even explain the entire context of the ink on my hands. but for now, after a long week of brainshine and bodytalk and the occasional indulgence in foreign substances- i am back at base camp, polishing my lenses, and it is too soon to imagine what larger animals are about to appear in the scope. |
